Bowater Railway Coaches
One of the special features of the Bowater Railway was its 24-hour passenger service, taking mill and dock workers to work and home again. These coaches were constructed on the chassis of some of the line’s existing Butterley pulp wagons in 1957, replacing an earlier, more basic design.

Chattenden & Upnor Railway Coaches
These four coaches ran on the railway which operated in connection with munitions stores on the Hoo peninsula, near Rochester. They still bear their C&U running numbers and were originally all open sided “toast-rack” coaches without doors. In 1963 they went to the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway who fitted doors to them. They were found to be unsuitable for their operation and were purchased by the SKLR. They arrived at Kemsley in 1978 when they all received names. 196 became a brake vehicle in WLLR days but 199 was brake fitted by the SKLR in 1979.
In 2020, coaches 196, 199 and 204 were converted to compartment coaches to provide social distancing.
